Why am I a branding and website designer for wedding businesses in London?

I’ll tell you a little bit about my story and the reason why I started my business and why I help wedding businesses create their branding and websites in London. I started my business as a wedding cake designer back in 2014. Malarkey Cakes went from strength to strength and continues to do so alongside the branding and website design business I now also run. So why did I start my business? Well, during the first covid lockdown in 2020 there was a need for me to pivot. I was working on updating my own website and mentioned that on social media. I had a few people comment and ask how I could help them with their business websites and the Studio Lago Design was born.

My existing network

Naturally, my existing network was other wedding suppliers and event businesses, so tapping into that was an obvious route. I have now helped multiple wedding and event businesses in London and beyond revamp their branding and websites, from event stylists, wedding cake designers and photographers. One of the best bits of feedback I have had from my clients is that because I know the industry so well and understand the ins and outs, they felt more comfortable working with someone who got it. The wedding world is a unique place and to have insider knowledge of that as well as being able to work with someone who can relate is a powerful thing.

Why I want to help wedding businesses 

I have been there and I know what running a wedding business is like. A lot of wedding business owners are creative and therefore decide to take it upon themselves to design their own branding and websites. That was me too. The difference is that I actually have a graphic design background (pre wedding cake business) and I did my degree in graphic design. But I was the busy business owner trying to do all the things and not necessarily spending the time on the right things in my business to help it grow. I understand that starting a business means that you might have the time to commit to spending on creating your own branding and website, but is this necessarily time well spent?

A lot of wedding business owners and creatives create their branding and websites for themselves without looking at it from a strategic point of view. Your branding and website should be designed for your ideal clients, not for yourself and that’s why I’ve spend time honing my skills looking at strategic branding and websites that go way beyond just the pretty stuff. What’s more is so many wedding business owners take it upon themselves to design and build their own websites that are then released to the world, but their ideal clients can’t find them because they don’t work on SEO (it can be a really daunting task) or driving traffic to their websites from social media.

Plus, once a lot of busy business owners have taken on their own websites, they need updating. So many wedding business owners let their portfolios and galleries go out of date and sad, dusty websites sit neglected for years.

Having realised that the situation was similar with so many wedding business owners, I have made it my mission to help as many business owners as possible get ‘update website’ off their to do lists. I offer website review sessions which help wedding businesses with an honest opinion on their websites. What’s working, what’s potentially not working or even putting their website visitors off. I help wedding business owners with driving more traffic to their websites and once it;s their keeping website users there, engaged and interested which in turn is more likely to turn them into leads and paying customers. This option is perfect for wedding business owners who want to continue to work on their own websites, but want to have a plan in place for how they can work strategically to get their website to do the heavy lifting for them and become the marketing machine for their business that it should be.
