How much will my website cost?

Dec 23, 2022

The price of a website depends on so many factors. To answer your question off the top of my head is really not possible until I know more about you, your business and your goals. And that’s what’s so great about the website design process for me. I get to know my client’s business really well so that I can help them create a website that not only showcases their amazing business and what they have to offer, but also one that helps them grow their business, automate their day to day tasks and create a whole new experience for their customers.

There is so much more to a website than what meets the eye. It’s true that actually anyone can build a website now. They definitely can with so many amazing tools and platforms out there. But, can anyone build a website that will help you reach your goals, follow a strategy and work hard to convert website visitors into clients even when you sleep?

Anyone can build a website, but paying an expert with experience means you are paying for just that. Their experience in building websites that take into consideration things like a business’ ideal clients, goals, the user experience, navigation and SEO to name but a few things.

So, here are a few other things to consider when I work out how much a website will cost…

Time

Good design takes time and it’s not just the time spent designing and building the site. To create a website strategically that considers your goals and your ideal clients takes a lot of research, planning and meeting time with my clients too. When building the site there is then a lot of testing, tweaking and amending that needs to happen to ensure the site works as well as it can and gives your website visitors the best possible user experience. There are a lot of working parts to a great website so it’s important to consider the amount of time it can take to get things right.

Complexity

All the website projects I work on vary in complexity. All businesses are completely unique and therefore have totally different needs. One business might want a simple, five page website that outlines what they do and encourages their website visitors to enquire with them about their services. A business that requires an online store with lots of different products, a blog and email marketing integration and is a totally different project with a lot more complexity and the need for a lot more tech and multi platform integration which adds up in terms of time, but also in terms of how much each individual piece of tech will cost too.

The complexity of a site can also come down to the design too. Some sites can have simple design without too many moving parts or custom code needed. Depending on the ideal clients of the business as well as their goals, the design of a site can be a lot more complex and need more custom elements for the design such as scroll effect, moving parts, animation or interactive content.

Amount of content

While the cost of a site doesn’t strictly come down to the number of pages needed, this is a contributing factor to the cost of a site. If I am working on a site that has 20+ pages of content to set up including copy, images and layout design, it will take a lot more time than a 5 or 6 page site. Of course here the complexity of the design of the site also comes in as a consideration too.

Platform

As a client, the cost of the platform you choose to create your site on will have an effect on the overall cost of your site too. Some platforms don’t have huge costs upfront but can cost you more over time, whilst others can seem lower cost, but may not have the tools you need that will then end up costing you extra. It’s worth thinking about your long term goals as a business when considering what platform to choose to set up your site as some options that can seem cheaper in the beginning can end up costing you more if you need to change later on down the line.

So, how will I know how much my website will cost?

Well, as every business is different and will have different needs in terms of their website, it’s difficult to know without chatting to you first. And how do you know what your website needs anyway? Well, the great thing is that once we have chatted, I’ll know a lot more about your business and how I might be able to help you. I might even be able to make some suggestions that you may not have thought of before as to how your website can help your business grow, how you can automate certain aspects of your business and get back to doing more of the things you actually love doing in your business.

I have website design packages that outline what kind of service I offer to different businesses and also to businesses at different stages in their journeys. But if you really want to know how much your website will cost, let’s hop on a call and chat.
