Learnings from my own rebrand

Apr 22, 2024

Some would announce their new look… Their new brand, logo and website. I’m here to announce a hell of a lot more than that.

I’m reaching the crescendo in what has been months of researching, planning and learning, taking a deep dive into the ins and outs of how I run my business and what it’s all about.

Why a rebrand and why now?

At the end of last year, I found myself at a place in my business where I wasn’t happy. I was saying ‘yes’ to all the things, working all the hours and felt like I was constantly on a treadmill but never getting any closer to my goals. Being honest, another year had gone by in a flash with me being controlled by my business, not with me in the driving seat at all.

It took a lot of reflection and for me to put my big girl pants on to admit that things needed to change so that another year wouldn’t go by and I’d feel I’d taken no action. But the thought of still being where I was in another year’s time wasn’t an option.

But I also know I’m no good at doing things by halves. Just launching a new programme or service didn’t feel like it sat right with where my brand was. Just raising my prices without offering more value or clarity around my offerings didn’t feel right either. And just changing my marketing tactics alone was still going to see me in the same place too.

More than just a rebrand

So a holistic approach was the only way. The same way I work with my clients, I needed to go back to basics and work from the ground up to get everything back into alignment. I knew it was time for ‘not just a rebrand’…

The biggest ah-ha moments I’ve had going through this process have been:

💡 I’d pigeon-holed myself into offering what I thought people wanted and not what I actually wanted to offer with my services.

💡 Selling an offer I love will make it, not only more magnetic to the people I’m selling it to, but more impactful to them and more fulfilling for me.

💡 Market research with your ideal clients teaches you what they really need, rather than what you think they need.

💡 Treating yourself as a client is the best way to make sure you stay accountable and really get stuff done in your own business.

So, what has this rebrand actually involved?

So, with it being a lot more than just the visual brand, I’ve wanted to change up how I run my business so that I am offering the best possible service to my clients and ultimately, so I am running a business that lights me up and that I love. Otherwise, what’s the point right?!

So, the below includes everything I have reworked or changed up as a part of this process, starting from the beginning:

  • Business Plan– Outlining how I’ll succeed in my business
  • Business strategy- helping me work out how I’ll achieve the success from the business plan in a detailed ‘refer back to’ strategy
  • Brand Strategy- Reviewing and revisiting my big vision, goals, values, mission and who my ideal clients are and how to attract them
  • Messaging- The words and language I’ll use to captivate and attract my ideal clients
  • Brand tone of voice guide- A guide on how I’ll keep my messaging on brand and consistent
  • Brand identity- A revamp and refresh of how my brand looks visually making it brighter, fresher and more in tune with what will attract my ideal clients
  • Brand images- A full new branding shoot to compliment my brand new visual identity, reflect my personality as a designer and create on brand images for the website and social media layouts
  • Services- What packages and services I will offer to best suit my ideal clients at different stages in their businesses to suit different budgets and needs and at different stages of the buyer journey
  • Processes- I’ve hired a VA to help me update my onboarding, offboarding and project processes to help me streamline the process clients experience whilst working with me
  • Website copy- Applied my messaging to my website copy to captivate website visitors and keep their attention for longer guiding them towards my business goals
  • Website strategy- The strategy behind the layout of my website which will guide visitors towards the ultimate website goals of enquiring about my services and booking my packages.
  • Website design- Applying my new brand identity to the website and planning the overall layout of the site considering user experience and navigation first.
  • Website build- Building out the website so that everything functions across all responsive screen sizes
  • New lead magnet and email marketing opt in with email sequence to drive more leads
  • A new Linkedin funnel to drive traffic from Linkedin to the website
  • A new Instagram funnel to drive traffic from Instagram to the Website
  • A new marketing strategy driving traffic to the website and highlighting the different services I offer

This holistic approach has meant I have so much moree confidence in my business to launch forward and shout about what I’m doing. It’s given me more clarity in what I really want to do, but also what I don’t want to do going forward.

I hope for this kind of clarity and confidence for my clients going forward too.
